Motherhood is a complex and messy job. Whether you have 1 child or 10, (or more 😊) each individual mother has her own strengths, weaknesses, and struggles.

May is the month for mothers. (Well at least 1 day, Mother’s Day)

On one hand, motherhood is challenging. There is a never ending list of obstacles that mothers face on a daily basis.

Guilt/ Doubt-

“Did I say or do the right thing?”

“ Maybe I should not have punished them.”

“What parenting style is best?”

“Do I yell too much?”

“Am I not strict enough?”

Regret-

“Maybe if I would have taken her phone, she wouldn’t have gotten into trouble.”

“I should have been a more loving parent when they were little.”

Stress/Overwhelm-

“Why are they so loud??”

“When will the endless list of to-dos stop??”

“Why do they need my help with EVERYTHING??”

Worry-

“Will he succeed?”

“Will she be safe driving?”

“What if he gets hurt?”

“What if they grow up and don’t believe in Jesus anymore?”

On the other hand, there is a never ending list of rewards.

Love-

“My love for my babies is so overwhelming.”

“I want to do anything to bring them joy.”

Memories-

“I remember when we went to the park every Wednesday after school.”

“I love thinking of her first words.”

“He had the cutest smile as a toddler!”

“Late night talks with my teen were the best.”

Personal Growth-

“I want to pursue this degree to better myself, to better my children.”

“I want to learn how to cook, to give my daughter healthier choices.”

“The early bird catches the worm, or is better prepared to tackle the day. I learned that from my toddler.”

Spiritual Growth-

“The more I think about my son, the more I want to know what to say to him about the Bible. If I don’t know the answers, how can I show him?”

“Wow, I never realized the similarities between God our Father’s love for us, and my love for my children.”

“If God loves me so much that He gave His Son, I can’t even fathom how much more love He has for me than I do for my own kids. I love my children A LOT, but He loves us even MORE.”

Excitement-

“She’s walking!!”

“He scored his first goal!”

“He read that sentence so well!”

“I am amazed at how well my son handled that situation. I never knew that what I was telling him was actually sinking in.”

Legacy-

“Although I may be gone one day, I have joy in knowing that my children, grandchildren, and future generations stemmed from the love that was shared and the children that were born to me.”

Motherhood is multifaceted. All situations, challenges and rewards, every emotion, is rolled into one complex human being. Mothers are more than their feelings or emotions. They are more than chore masters, meal makers, and career chasers. Moms are caring and loving people, who nurture their children into adulthood.(and beyond!) God lovingly gives each mom their offspring to care for them while on this earth.  However long that may be.

All moms make mistakes. My prayer is that no matter the circumstances, all mothers know they are forgiven in Christ, and He can heal any situation.

Eve’s Restoration Ministries wants to empower all moms to rebuild and reunite their families.  Through mending relationships, learning more about God through His word, and learning to pour that out onto others, all moms can have strong relationships with their children.

The first goal, besides education and awareness, is to open a home for mothers seeking to reunify with their children in foster care. A place to call home temporarily to work through their struggles. The hope is to have this accomplished by 2028.

All mothers are multifaceted, complex, and loved by many.

Happy Mothers Day to all mothers young and old. ❤️
